The Russian edition of the magazine National Geographic Traveler has included Croatia in the top 3 best tourist destinations for family vacations.
The annual award "Top Travel Destinations" by National Geographic Magazine has been organized for six years, with this year's awards held in Moscow. Prizes are awarded based on the number of online votes of Russian tourists, and this year is the second year in a row that Croatia has been a part of the “top 3 destinations” in the category "Best Family Destination", reports HRTurizam.
"Russia is a market that, in recent years, has very specific circumstances that has significantly hampered our business in this market. However, the Croatian National Tourist Board has not given up on Russian tourists, and in accordance with our announcements and expectations, this year we stopped the downward trend of Russian tourists in Croatian tourist destinations. This award confirms that we can count on Russian tourists, especially those who have families,” said the director of the Central Office of HTZ, Ratomir Ivičić.
In addition to the award for family tourism, the National Geographic also presents awards in categories such as "Beach vacation", "Mountain skiing vacation", "Sightseeing vacation", "Bungalow", "Wellness vacation", "Eco-vacation", "Adventure Tourism" "Russian tourism", "Discovery of the Year", "Gastronomic tourism" and "Exotic tourism". In relation, readers also selected winners in categories such as "Best Foreign Airline", "Best Russian Airline", "Best Hotel Chain", "Best Beach Hotel", "Best Internet Service" and " Best travel program on TV. "
This year, in the category "Best show about tourism on TV" ("Best travel program on TV"), the award winner was TV show "Poedem Poedem" with federal Russian broadcaster NTV. This is a show with one of the highest audience ratings, and one of the episodes this year was even recorded in Croatia throughout Zagreb and Istria. The HTZ claims that this is already the second award with the Russian market.
In addition, the Association of National Tourist Offices (ANTOR), whose Council annually awards prizes in several categories, this year rewarded the Croatian Tourist Board in Moscow in the category of the "most successful and the most active of the National Tourism Office".
