Baška Voda to Become a Center for Elite Tourism

By 19 December 2016

Baška Voda will soon become a center for elite tourism, as cruisers and mega yachts will be moored in the new yachting port which will dramatically affect the extension of the pre-season and post-season.

Slobodna Dalmacija reports on 16 December 2016 that works on the construction of nautical tourism in Baška Voda are in full swing.

What is currently being built is the main building in the port, which will contain a restaurant with a terrace which will have 260 seats. The building will also be a hall for receptions and offices, and on top of the pier there will be cafe with a hundred seats and a few shops. In addition, the main building will be constructed as an auxiliary building.

“One building will be for changing rooms and rooms for boaters and the other will be designed for sport, namely for Baska Voda sailors and rowers,” says mayor of Baška Voda Joško Roščić, who also points out that the most interesting part of the project is that a pier as long as 120 meters will also be built.

“Some may find this surprising, but the idea is that in Baška Voda mega yachts and cruisers of a medium size are coming. We will have something that no one else has in the Adriatic. This year we will ensure a large parking lot, and the port will be brought to the level of the four-star categorization,” added Roščić.

Otherwise, funding for the first and second phase of construction has been provided by the municipality and the Port of Baška Voda, and for the equipment and the pier, the municipality intends to raise a loan of ten million kuna.

The mayor of Baška Voda claims that all of the works, except for the construction of the pier, will be completed by mid-April. The pier construction will begin after the upcoming tourist season and will last at least two years.
