Excellent news for Croatia's island tourism as a glam resort on Dubrovnik's closest inhabited island, Kalamota Island Resort on Kolocep (Kalamota), reports a fantastic 2016.

The Croatian islands are dream destinations attracting visitors of all budgets and tastes like magnets from all over the world, and as tportal reported on the 27th of January 2017, the news just keeps on getting better.

According to an annual report, the Sensimar Kalamota Island Resort, owned by Karisma Resorts International, TUI and Agrokor, wound up the year 2016 with a profit of 387,323 euros and a more than impressive 3.8 million euro turnover. The beautiful four star resort located on the small, idyllic island of Kolocep (Kalamota) boasts 144 rooms, four bars, three restaurants, a swimming pool and a spa and wellness centre.

A statement from the company claimed that 2016 confirmed the stable and steady growth of guests, working for 182 days with an occupancy rate of 90% (46,850 overnight stays), with most of the guests coming from Northwestern European countries such as Belgium and Great Britain.

A huge 29 million kuna investment was injected into the resort, formerly known as Hotel Kolocep and it seems to have done the trick more than well. If you'd like to read more about the island of Kolocep (Kalamota) and its other Elaphiti neighbours, click here.
