How to boost tourism in continental Croatia? This Croatian association has found the answer.
In an effort to bring to light the massive tourist potential of Lika, a group of enthusiasts from the association “Rudopolje Moje” gathered in the municipality of Vrhovine, reports Mirjam Jukić on HRTurizam on March 14, 2017.
The sports recreation project “Bijeli Vrh” is the direct result of finding ways to improve the opportunities in the Lika area. With the support of the municipality of Vrhovine, Rudopolje Moje was able to create a project that aims to provide an opportunity for young people to stay in Lika - and of course, attract visitors and introduce them to the beauty of the area.
SRC “Bijeli Vrh” is located on the western border of Plitvice Lakes National Park, and 20 km from the national road. The area covers almost 100 hectares of sports and recreational zones. With close proximity to Plitvice Lakes National Park, Northern Velebit National Park, and the Gacka river, this location is ideal and unique to admirers of untouched nature and those who crave an adrenaline rush.
“The opening of the zipline, which is conveniently named ‘Beware of the Bear’, is 1700 meters in length with a speed up to 110 km/h - and we can say that the project has come to life and our dreams have finally come true,” emphasized the members of Rudopolje Moje.
In addition to the zipline, they have also implemented several smaller projects. "We have also designed and marked bicycle maps, and built a Disc golf course and a climbing wall,” added the association.
The completion of the project SRC “Bijeli Vrh” is planned in several phases, and the ambitious plans consist of three hostels, a ski resort with 5 kilometers of trails that will serve as a downhill bike trail in the summer, and an extension of the current zipline to a length of 2,950 meters - making it the longest in the world. The association also plans to implement a 1250 meter long Air Bike.
For those who crave adrenaline in untouched nature, Lika has just become your new favorite place to travel. Talk about a good way to increase visitors to continental Croatia!
