Hotel Operations Weekend: First Festival of its Kind in Europe to be Held in Zadar

By 11 June 2017

A new kind of festival is coming to Croatia this September: Meet Hotel Operations Weekend.

Hotel Operations Weekend (HOW) is the first festival in Europe that follows the theme of hotel operations. The festival will be held from September 28-29, 2017, at the Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Iadera in Petrčane near Zadar, reports HRTurizam on June 10, 2017.

A first of its kind, the festival aims to gather tourism representatives and middle management in hotels from across the region and present them with the international trends in hotel operations and examples of good practice, states the HOW website. In other words, the festival encourages hotel directors, operations managers, and hotel managers to implement these global trends into their hotel’s day-to-day agenda.

"The interest in presenting current trends and examples of successful practices has been shown by the region's leading tour operators, and we want to introduce the world trends in hotel operations to the participants, as well as to encourage them to implement these new services and products. The festival concept itself is focused on the development of B2B business, networking amongst members, and the enhancement of the quality of hotel businesses and services,” says organizer Marina Franolić from Proficiscor d.o.o.

The festival will begin with a panel discussion and a lecture on "International Trends and Challenges in Hotel Operations" and "Ways to Sell More to Guests" which will be open for all participants. The panel will be led by international experts in hotel operations including Dalibor Šumiga, Denis Galic, and Frank Gueuning.

Following the panel and lecture, workshops will be divided into hotel departments (i.e., food and beverage, reception, housekeeping) and will be focused on the topics that the hotel owners themselves, through internal research, have found interesting.

At least two workshops have been organized for each department, which will cover everything from how to give guests an authentic experience, to revenue management and making hotel bars more profitable.

A detailed program of the festival will be released no later than June 15, 2017.
