One-Millionth Passenger of 2017 Welcomed at Gruž Port in Dubrovnik

By 13 September 2017

Outstanding results for the port in Dubrovnik

The millionth passenger of 2017 arrived in Gruž port in Dubrovnik earlier today, reports Morski.hr on September 13, 2017.

This year, the port in Dubrovnik welcomed the millionth passenger two days earlier than in 2016. On Wednesday, exactly at noon, the Krilo Star ship docked in the port. The lucky passenger, Ms Barbara Rogers from Los Angeles, was greeted by the Port Authority director Blaž Pezo, who presented her with a flower bouquet and a gift bag.

"I'm delighted to be in Dubrovnik, and I'm pleasantly surprised by such a ceremonial welcome. I'll be staying in Dubrovnik for a week, then I'm headed back to LA. My travels in Croatia so far took me to Zagreb, Rovinj, Split and Hvar, and this is my first visit to Dubrovnik. I'm sure I'll be coming back to your gorgeous city", said Ms Rogers cheerfully.

Pezo stated they are expecting a 3% annual increase in traffic this year, reaching up to 1.400.000 passengers. The port of Gruž saw 319 cruise ships this year, and 124 more are expected before the end of the year. As stated by the Port Authority Dubrovnik, it's worth noting a total of five new cruise ships chose Dubrovnik to be their first destination of docking in 2017.
