The investment will cover a 320,000 square metre area on the island of Brač.
The Sunce Group, owned by Jako Andabak, has bought 320,000 square metres of land in Sutivan on the island of Brač. There they plan to build three new hotels in cooperation with the German tour operator TUI, reports tportal.hr on November 17, 2017.
This is the final phase of a joint venture of Sunce and the German tour operator, which last week bought from Sunce a 50 percent stake in the Punta Zlatarac Tučepi company. Hoteli Tučepi sold the share for 31.5 million euros, with Punta Zlatarac becoming a joint venture, with TUI now having 51 percent and Sunce 49 percent of the ownership.
“The land is located on the island of Brač, in the municipality of Sutivan, and represents an exceptional location for the development of new tourist facilities. It is an area of 320,000 square metres with direct access to the coast and good infrastructure connectivity,” said Sunce.
The project on Brač is still in the planning phase, and the final decision on TUI's brands that would be tied with hotels is expected in the forthcoming period. The hotels will be managed by a company that will manage all hotels owned by the Punta Zlatarac.
The news about the new project came shortly after Sunce’s owner Jako Andabak announced the forthcoming demolition of the old complex of Hotel Termia in Bizovačke Toplice in Slavonia, which he bought three years ago. At the location, he will build a brand new facility worth ten million euros. At the same time, he confirmed that the Stubaki project, worth 70 million euros, would proceed in cooperation with Krapina-Zagorje County.
“The demolition of the existing Hotel Termia complex should begin by the end of this year, and we opted to do so after extensive studies and consultations with our investment department and architects,” said Andabak. The new hotel will have 160 accommodation units, two restaurants and a wellness centre. After completion, the new facility should have four stars. This will mark the end of the final phase of the reconstruction of the Bizovac thermal spas worth about ten million euros.
On the other hand, Stubaki is a public-private partnership project between Sunce and Krapina-Zagorje County, which should result in new accommodation capacities with about 300 rooms, seven swimming pools, and a wellness and spa centre in Stubičke Toplice near Zagreb.
Sunce plans to develop sports and medical tourism at the location. The investment contract was signed in 2008, followed by two more annexes. The latest annexe includes a two-and-a-half-year deadline for the start of the project realisation.
