Croatian National Tourist Board Allocates 9 Million Kuna for Tourism Projects

By 5 January 2018

Three public bids have been announced.

The Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) has announced three public calls for programmes through which it will allocate grants in the amount of nine million kuna, with the aim of improving the tourism offer, creating a recognisable image of Croatian tourism, and extending the tourism season, announced the HTZ on Friday, reports tportal.hr on January 5, 2018.

Two public calls for support for the underdeveloped tourism areas have been announced – one for local tourist boards and another for tourism initiatives and products, while the third call includes programmes of destination management companies for 2018. All interested parties can submit their bids by 31 January.

The most substantial amount of five million kuna has been secured for the support for programmes and projects of local tourist boards in the underdeveloped tourism areas, and the money will be granted for the development and promotion of tourist destination offers, improving the conditions for tourists, and for construction, renovation and improvement of public tourist infrastructure.

The public call for support for tourism initiatives and tourism projects is open for entrepreneurial and public projects that contribute to specific goals, such as the activation of unused tourist resources and the creation of new motives for tourist arrivals in underdeveloped tourism areas. Grants are also available for building, renovating and raising the quality of accommodation facilities and additional tourist facilities. A total of two million kuna will be distributed through this public call.

A total of two million kuna is also available for grants for destination management companies, intended for programmes of development and introduction of complex tourist products for markets of particular interest. The aim is to activate the unused tourism resources, as well as to create new motives for tourist arrivals throughout the country and to develop innovative products that will extend the tourist season, reduce its seasonality and increase tourist traffic, especially in the pre-season and post-season periods.

“This year, we have decided to announce public calls as early as possible, because we want to give interested parties enough time to apply, but also to plan and realize the proposed activities,” said the Director of the Main Office of the Croatian National Tourist Board Kristjan Staničić, adding that the results of the competitions would be known during the first half of 2018.
