Obonjan Revival: 80% of Accommodation Capacities Booked through September

Several investors have joined forces to transform the Dalmatian island into a lively desirable destination

Even though the summer season hasn't yet officially started on Obonjan island, things are looking up for the charming destination located off the coast of Šibenik. Some 300 visitors from the US are currently enjoying a splendid holiday on Obonjan, and a staggering 80 percent of accommodation capacities have already been booked for the period from June through September.

Sales results achieved so far are a good enough prediction of a successful tourist season for Obonjan and Šibenik, with both destinations set to welcome a large number of visitors from all over the world. Sales have increased in the last month or so; the island is also attracting a growing number of international management teams that will attend team building programmes and symposiums on Obonjan this summer. Several reputable companies from France, Great Britain, the US, Slovenia and Croatia have already confirmed their arrivals in early June and mid-September, reports Morski on May 9, 2018.

The accommodation capacities on Obonjan have been expanded by some 50 new units and are now counting around 1000 beds. Judging by the bookings confirmed so far, guests will be arriving from 40 countries, with the majority of visitors coming from Great Britain, Sweden, the Benelux countries, Slovenia, Germany, Austria and Italy.

An attractive programme based on the concept of wellbeing has already been fully planned for this year's guests. They will get to enjoy live performances of world-renowned musicians, themed workshops, cultural events, seminars, meditations, sports and recreational activities, and of course - a splendid gastronomic offer.

All things considered, Obonjan is going through a proper revival. The City of Šibenik has granted concession rights for the period of 43 years to Obonjan Riviera, a company that has already invested more than 120 million kuna in construction and infrastructure renovation on the island. The leading investors are the British company Sound Channel, the Croatian company Gratiosus and a national tour operator CMT.
