New Season, New Prices: What's On at Uber this Summer?

Uber announced new prices to reflect the peak tourist season.

May 10, 2018 - Uber has announced that their services will see a price increase from Thursday afternoon in Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Rijeka, Zadar, and Šibenik. This move, as Uber announced in their blog, is justified by the quickly approaching tourist season.

“With the quickly approaching tourist season during which millions of foreign tourists will visit Croatia, and almost three years after Uber entered the Croatian market, we are traditionally preparing to adjust the prices in all the coastal cities, and in Zagreb this year. We are doing this, among other things, to track the total price movement on the entire market, but also to contribute to our goal of offering a more quality service to customers with newer vehicles, while allowing our partners and drivers to have higher incomes,” Uber stated on Wednesday.

“The changes that we will introduce will increase the quality of service through the Uber application in Croatia by enabling all vehicles to have a maximum age of seven years. Also, we will improve the conditions to allow the drivers with lower average ratings to continue driving, which will guarantee the user a more enjoyable and safer ride. Due to all of the above, from May 10, 2018, the price of services in Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Rijeka, Zadar, and Šibenik will rise,” Uber continued.

As they are now, all new prices will be visible in the mobile application, which is, in any case, one of the benefits of using the Uber app.

“This price increase means increasing the revenue of all businesses and trades that operate via the Uber application which will lead to additional employment in such companies and crafts and open up additional business opportunities for entrepreneurs. The encouragement of local entrepreneurship, along with the constant increase in security, is one of our priorities and we thank you for making a big contribution to that.”

With the announcement of higher prices, in Split, for example, UberX begins at 9 kuna with an additional half kuna per minute or five per kilometer. Users will pay a bit more for the same service in Dubrovnik, which will begin at 11 kuna, 0.65 per minute or 6.5 per kilometer. In Zadar, the prices are the same as in Split, while in Šibenik, users will pay 6 kuna for UberX, with additional four per kilometer or 0.9 per minute. In Rijeka and Zagreb, UberX will begin at 6 kuna.

Uber Select in Split, Zadar, Šibenik, and Rijeka will cost 11 kuna to start plus 6.50 kuna per kilometer, while the same service in Dubrovnik will be two kuna more expensive. The prices for Uber Select remain the same in Zagreb.
