Transport minister in Split talks cruisers, Ciovo bridge, Kastela road.

Minister of transport Siniša Hajdaš Dončić visited yesterday the new docks in the Split port, which will be able to accommodate cruisers up to 300 meters long, according to a report in Poslovni.hr on July 28, 2015. He announced that the first phase will be completed in the spring of next year, and that Split, together with Dubrovnik, will become the most attractive port in the Adriatic for large cruisers.

"Dubrovnik and Split will undoubtedly be pearls of cruising tourism in this part of the Adriatic", said Hajdaš Dončić.

The director of the Port Authority Milan Blaževski said that the expected numbers of cruisers for the next year are record breaking. This year, between 260 and 265 cruisers are expected to arrive, while the next year will see more than 300 arrivals. He also expects that, in about ten days, seaplanes will start to land in the port as well.

Asked how the building of Čiovo bridge is progressing, minister Hajdaš Dončić said that it is going as expected and that the construction has to be finished by October next year. The same goes for the road through Kaštela.

"It is important that for the Čiovo bridge, which will cost 28 million euros, we have received 85 percent of money through co-financing. We shall see how much money we will receive for the Kaštela road."
