The first Via Ribnik chestnut festival will be held on Saturday, October 16 in the Old Town of Ribnik. The old town of Ribnik will come to life in full glory with an all-day event dedicated to the history, culture, and gastronomy of this beautiful locality, reports Turističke Priče.

Thus, from the early morning, an autochthonous medieval market will be set up in the courtyard of Ribnik, where, along with other occasional delicacies, the intoxicating scents of chestnuts will dominate. The old town of Ribnik will become home to real medieval merchants whose stands will be able to taste and buy really special products.

In the morning, there will be an interesting competition - the Olympics of Old Sports, which will show the skills and strength of the people who lived in this area several centuries ago. Archery club Dubovac will perform a presentation of archery and a tournament for citizens, while in the evening there will be a story of old legends and spectacular trekking with torches.

The Karlovac Tamburitza Orchestra and Stari Kostenjari are in charge of the entertainment, while the popular Begini will close the event with a big concert.

There will be no lack of education at the Via Ribnik chestnut festival, so LAG Vallis Collapis will hold a presentation of support for family farms.

The magical Old Town of Ribnik is the only preserved lowland fortress in Croatia dating back to the 13th century and is located along an important trade road, while its name suggests that it is a fortress surrounded by a defensive pond. The imposing Old Town of Ribnik hides secret corridors, hidden dungeons, and walled mystical passages - everything that was needed to survive in the turbulent Middle Ages, which is why this place is full of incredible stories and legends.

All events as part of the Chestnut Festival are free of charge, subject to applicable epidemiological measures. The organizers, therefore, invite all citizens to come to the first Chestnut Festival Via Ribnik and enjoy the beautiful ambiance of the Old Town of Ribnik and the rich program for all generations. You can follow the program on the official Facebook page of Via Ribnik.
