A renovation is on the cards for one Northern Croatian gem!
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 5th of February, 2018, new infrastructure will be built, with new roads and new pedestrian and bicycle paths, which is the beginning of the complete renovation of the city and county.
Everything is ready for the largest communal project launched in the history of Varaždin, construction of drainage and wastewater treatment, writes Lokalni.hr.
''So far, no works have been undertaken. This is a large collection and wastewater treatment system that will be handled by the City of Varaždin along with ten neighboring municipalities. We signed the agreement in September last year,'' stated Mayor Dr. Ivan Čehok.
The Aglomeracija Varaždin project includes not only the city but ten neighboring municipalities of Varaždin County - Beretinec, Cestica, Gornji Kneginec, Maruševec, Petrijanec, Sracinec, Sveti Ilija, Trnovec Bartolovečki, Vidovec and Vinica.
''This is a project that will enable the construction of a sewerage system for 100,000 inhabitants in the vicinity of Varaždin. Each household will have its own sewerage connection and at the same time, it will reduce water flow and [problems with] faulty water treatment in households, thereby protecting the environment and sources of drinking water. At the same time, the purifier will be refined so that no unpleasant smells will spread.
Additionally, new infrastructure will be built, with new roads and new pedestrian and bicycle paths, which is the beginning of the complete renovation of the city and county. Of course, I believe that as part of the project, we'll be able to solve the problem of rainwater, ie, drains on the streets that will be renovated, as part of the project,'' explained the mayor.
The total estimated project value under the Feasibility Study, as stated in the signing of the agreement, amounts to about 684 million kuna (excluding VAT), with 71.38 percent being financed with European Union money. Local self-government participates with 5.72 percent, while the rest is covered by the state and by Croatian waters (Hrvatske vode).
