A considerable tourism boost for Krk!
It's no secret (nor is it exactly new information) to state how well Croatia's tourism package is increasing and expanding as time goes on. Last year saw the most successful tourism year for the country, with the summer, but also the spring, breaking record after record, particularly along the coastline but also in previously hidden continental gems all over the country.
As Zagreb took the ''Christmas crown'' for the third year running, and with overall efforts being put into turning Croatia into a year-round tourist destination by pushing the wide variety and diversity the country boasts, as opposed to just a summer break, it wouldn't be far from the truth to say that Croatia is bringing itself up to the level of some of the classic European holiday destinations who have been well and truly in this game for decades.
It seems that the next step is to inject cash wherever possible, to boost the overall offer destinations provide to their visitors, encouraging them to come back year after year, the beautiful island of Krk, which has found a great deal of fame of late, is just one of them.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 22nd of March, 2018, early during the rapidly approaching Easter holidays, more precisely from March the 29th until April the 1st, about 2,500 guests are expected to arrive on the island, with about 11,000 overnight stays also anticipated.
Krk business owners involved in the provision of family/private accommodation, camps and hotels, are investing around 300 million kuna into this year's tourist season on Krk, and by the end of March, the doors of almost all of the picturesque island's hotels, as well as several campsites, are set to swing open for the season, as was announced on Thursday by Krk's Tourist Board.
General infrastructure improvement is also in the works, a process which will involve all local self-government units, in order to increase the quality and overall standards of supply and services.
Additionally, Krk's Tourist Board has pointed out that the tourism workers of Krk, after their huge success last year, which we've already spoken repeatedly about, are anticipating even better results from 2018's quickly approaching summer season.
In the name of Easter, a holiday of almost equal importance as Christmas to some, a special Easter program has been prepared for visitors to Krk's shores - from Easter breakfast to concerts, gastro programs, cycling and walking programs, as well as other forms of active attractions as the country dips its feet into the active and sustainable tourism pond, to be sure to lure Krk's satisfied guests back to the island, time after time.
