Gotovina seeks approval.
As SibenikIN writes on the 24th of October, 2018, Pelagos Net Farma, a tuna farming company co-owned by General Ante Gotovina has requested an increase of the scope of the concession for the raising of tuna in the waters of the southern part of the island of Balabra in the Murter-Kornati Municipality from Šibenik-Knin County, given the fact that they're planning to increase the breeding capacity from 600 to 900 tons of tuna per year. The decision is scheduled for Wednesday.
The concessionaire is set to increase the overall capacity and the plan is to increase the quantity from 600 to 900 tons of tuna per year. Increasing the concession coverage is in line with both the location permit and the environmental impact study, and since it is not asking for more than 50 percent, it remains acceptable for implementation according Jadranka Fržop, head of the county department of maritime affairs, transport and island development.
Since the modification doesn't change the subject of the concession contract itself, the existing contract may be amended without the implementation of the new concession procedure.
With the first contract, Gotovina's company received a concession of 126,000 square metres in total, which is a concession field for eight round cages, with a maximum capacity of 600 tons of tuna per year.
The request submitted in September seeks to increase the concession coverage to 179,200 square metres, so the concession field would in essence have twelve round cages and an increase in capacity from 600 tonnes up to 900 tonnes of tuna per year.
