Meet the Newest Airport in Croatia: Downtown Split

By 29 July 2015

Travel from downtown Split is about to change for the better, and certainly for the quicker...

It is fourteen years since a German businessman appeared in Croatia with a concept to link the coast and inhabited islands with seaplanes. After 13 years of frustration, the first flight finally took off from Resnik, near Split Airport, to TCN headquarters in Jelsa on Hvar on August 27, 2014.

As European Coastal Airlines approaches its first anniversary of operations, a key hub - downtown Split - will be added to the network sometime next month.

Final touches are being put to the seaport, on the eastern side of the main harbour, and a civil aviation inspection after that will be the final hurdle in a VERY long process. Direct flights from downtown Split to the TCN editorial office on the main square of Jelsa in just 12 minutes does sound nice...
