August should see a major expansion of the European Coastal Airlines seaplane operation.

As the first anniversary of the first scheduled seaplane operation in modern European history approaches at the end of the month, European Coastal Airlines is set to add several new destinations to its network, and the arrival in country of a new Twin Otter from California will greatly enhance the company's operational capability.

The new seaports in downtown Split and the island of Lastovo have now been completed, and both are awaiting final inspection from the Civil Aviation Authority, and both could be operational theoretically as early as this week. Work too is almost complete on two other key destinations, Vela Luka on Korcula and Novalja on Pag, and these two popular locations should both be operational by the end of the month.

TCN understands that the introduction of the new routes will be linked in part to the availability of the newly-arrived place, which is in the latter stages of the inevitable Croatian bureaucratic process.
