The Pearl of the Sea Gastronomy Competition Grand Prize Goes To Nikola Mishkovski from Macedonia

Nikola Mishkovski, the well known chef from Chateau Kamnik Winery in Macedonia, won the overall top spot at the Pearl of the Sea (Biser Mora) gastronomy event in Supetar on Brač.

An excellent and tasty example of how to extend the tourist season! This year's Pearl of the Sea was the eleventh time the gastronomic festival was held, writes Slobodna Dalmacija on April 10, 2016. The venue were the Svpetrvs Hotel Resort, in Supetar on the island of Brač.

Nikola Mishkovski from Macedonia took home the grand prize. Silver medal went to Aleksandar Simjanovski, and bronze to Goran Staničić. Mishkovsky works at the Chateau Kamnik Winery in Macedonia. Simjanovski is the chef at Restaurant Boko in Gevgelija, also in Macedonia. Staničić is head chef at the Bluesun Hotel Berulia in Brela near Makarska.

This year's competition had around three hundred participants, including two hundred competitors from twenty one countries. In addition to the competition, there was a gastronomic exhibition at which Supetar restaurants presented traditional specialties to the numerous visitors, various famous chefs held free masterclasses, and evenings dedicated to particular regional cuisines were organised.

The festival lasted four days. It started with a grand opening on the Supetar Riva and finished with the announcement of the final winners, and of course a gala dinner followed by a party "a la Brač".
