Over two consecutive weekends, June 11 and 12 and June 18 and 19, the Botanical Gardens in Zagreb will be host to an event "Biljke i svirke", connecting music and nature in a more than original way.
"Biljke i svirke" (translating roughly to “plants and performing”) will span over two weekends at the Botanical Garden, creating a musical oasis in the city center. Throughout the gardens in six different locations, professional musicians and students from the Music Academy will perform the works of some of the most important composers and musicians in music, including Mozart, Bach, Debussy, Chopin, Frank Sinatra, the Beatles and Louis Armstrong. These concerts will represent a wide range of genres from classical music to jazz and rock.
The Botanical Garden will be filled with antique pianos, violins, saxophones and trumpets, perfectly fitting in the surroundings of the garden, where visitors will stroll through happy and relaxed.
Performing from 16h to 18h will be professional musicians led by pianists Alyosha Jurinić and Daniel Gasparovic, gypsy jazz band Oridano, guitarist Ante Gel and singer Artemije Stanic, and students from the Music Academy.
Before and after these intimate concerts, all interested parties will be invited to become active participants, with the ability to play an instrument they desire in front of the audience.
The event will be free for all visitors and will span over two weekends, lasting all day from 11h to 19h.
The Zagreb Botanical Garden is located at Trg Marka Marulića 9A.
