Croatia is quickly taking over Ibiza’s reigning title of dance music capital of Europe. With over 20 music festivals gracing the Adriatic coast alone, Croatia has been introducing some of the best boutique festivals for dance music lovers around the world to enjoy.
Tisno, a town in Šibenik-Knin county, became the unbeknownst location for boutique festivals in the region. With the massive success the Garden Festival ushered in over the last decade and a location so good even the surrounding villages want to join the party, Tisno is your ultimate festival package.
In all honestly, every festival happening in Tisno this summer is one we’d recommend going to, but we’re here to bring you the top 3 (and we promise you won’t be disappointed).
Love International: A continuation of The Garden Festival, we’re sure that Love International will be bringing the heat this year with its first edition of the festival. With four stages including the main, the beach, the olive grove, and the ever so famous Barbarella’s Discotheque, Love International also boasts boat parties on the Argonaughty and the Arbiana. You can choose to stay at this week long festival in their onsite apartments, airstream trailers, or their glamorous yacht offerings. Or you can choose from uber cool boutique camping, Shikar tents, podpads, or DIY camping. They even have a “Tisno train” to take you from the festival entrance to the center of town! With a big dance music line up bringing in everyone from Axel Boman to Motor City Drum Ensemble, we’re pretty sure that Love International will be living up to The Garden Festival’s expectations.
Electric Elephant: As Electric Elephant quotes, “Where else can you rock out to Crazy P on a stage out to sea, sip a cocktail whilst Danny Krivit does his thing or dance away the early hours with Henrik Schwarz and Horse Meat Disco?” Essentially overlapping with Love International, Electric Elephant stemmed from embryonic parties in Manchester that later would be the beating heart that is Electric Elephant. With veterans on their past line ups such as Frankie Knuckles, you know this festival isn’t messing around. This year, Electric Elephant hosts big names such as Andrew Weatherall and Kerri Chandler across three dance happy stages. In addition to the boat parties, Electric Elephant also offers sailing, massages, and yoga for their guests. With similar accommodation options to Love International (minus the yachts and boutique camping), Electric Elephant sounds like your perfect retreat.
Soundwave: In its 8th year this year, Soundwave is no stranger to making an intimate and unreal festival experience for everyone. A much broader lineup with genres touching everything from reggae to acid jazz and hip hop to soul, Soundwave also displays a developed live art and film program for their attendees. This year they’ll even have competitors from the famous Croatian donkey races! Using the festival as your canvas, Soundwave encourages the art and music together, and has created a magical playground for all parties involved. Also offering boat and after parties, your five days at Soundwave will be nothing short of mystifying.
