With flights still on hold, European Coastal Airlines CEO Klaus Dieter Martin issues a statement on the current situation regarding the seaplane operation on August 17, 2016.
Dear Passengers, Friends and Supporters,
As you know, European Coastal Airlines has paused its operations since last Saturday, 13.08.2016 due to additional administrational tasks requested by the authorities. For the time being our Flight Operation (and our „AOC“ - Airline Operation Certificate) is therefore on hold.
A long weekend has past and my team has collected additionally requested paperwork for the authorities and has submitted those.
The situation ever since has not changed. The additional requested documentation is currently been reviewed by the authorities.
We have taken additional measures to get co-operation partners supporting us in these difficult times. Amongst them companies with more than 25 years of experience with Twin Otter operation.
All these efforts have been taken to ensure that our operation has been done safe in the past and will be even safer in the future. We do not hesitate to continue our efforts in ensuring the highest quality standards.
I am exceptionally proud of my team to have taken the extra effort in order to eliminate the smallest doubt in the safety and security measures of our airline. Also, on behalf of everyone at ECA I would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused to our passengers. My team has been busy to contact every single one of you, to issue refunds and to advise and help with alternate transportation. We will continue those efforts until we fly again. We are expecting this by the end of this week. All flights until Thursday have been cancelled.
A complicated and rough time has passed and I am encouraging everyone to look ahead with prudent optimism and to see what European Coastal Airlines can do for Croatia, the islands and beyond. We connect people, families and businesses and bring you closer together. We do this by flying over an exceptionally beautiful country. Our environmental mission is to preserve this landscape for future generations. I count on all of you to be part of our story.
Yours truthfully,
Klaus Dieter Martin
Managing Director
