Tourism boom in Zagreb continues.
In early November, the Exportdrvo Projekti Company will open the new Academia Centre at Tkalčićeva Street in Zagreb, an investment worth 80 million kuna, and it will include a four-star hotel, which will be the first major new hotel in the city centre built after a long time, reports Poslovni.hr on September 26, 2016.
The centre will have the total area of 17,500 square meters, and it has been created by converting the former Cascade Shopping Mall at Tkalčićeva Street. Hotel Academia will occupy three floors and offers accommodation in 53 double rooms and four large private suites, with supporting facilities such as a restaurant for about 250 guests, a spa and a fitness centre. The ground floor of the centre will include two large shops, as well as three or four smaller shops, and another restaurant.
Below the building (on two levels) is a garage for about 170 cars, so the hotel and other facilities will be very accessible. “Since this is one of the most attractive streets in Zagreb, located just a few hundred metres from the main Ban Jelačić Square and near the city's major attractions, we believe that the hotel will have a high occupancy rate, especially during Advent in Zagreb. We also believe that the centre and the hotel will contribute to development of tourism and improve business results for all restaurants and shops in Tkalčićeva street”, said Ivica Prevolšek, director of the hotel.
“The price for a room for two people with breakfast included will be about 900 kuna, which is little lower than in hotels of similar category in Zagreb, but we will change it depending on demand”, said Prevolšek.
“We have started the investment cycle two years ago, and we have almost completely changed the interior of the centre and its outer appearance. The most difficult works were the demolition of interior walls, in order to create open spaces, and we have built seven new lifts, fire exits and other facilities. We have used local companies for many of the construction works and interior design”, added Prevolšek.
