Ryanair Flies into November, More Swedish Flights to Pula, Split, Dubrovnik Announced

By 22 October 2016

Budget airlines are flying longer in the season to Croatia, and the new flight announcements keep on coming, reports Avioradar on October 20, 2016.

The pattern of aviation to Croatia is changing.

It is less than ten years since Ryanair broke into the Croatian market with flights to Zadar, and they were soon followed by other big players in the budget airline industry - easyJet, Wizzair and Norwegian. Many others joined, but the focus was always on the busier and more lucrative summer months, with many new routes being for 3-4 months only.

That trend has been slowly changing in recent years. Airlines which commenced routes in May and ended in September, are now starting earlier in April (or even March) and finishing in October or later.

An interesting post on the ever-reliable Avioradar shows for example how Ryanair is quietly extending its season, with a range of flights which this year will go until November 10, the chief beneficiary being Zadar. With Ryanair in advanced talks to start 12-month flights to Dubrovnik and also introduce domestic flights in Croatia, this is a trend which looks set to continue, while Dubrovnik's announcement of several international flights through the winter is another positive move to the expansion of flight choice to Croatia.

And there is more good news, all of it from Scandanavia, prinipally from Sweden. Norwegian has increased its presence for 2017 from Stockholm to Split and Dubrovnik.

New flights to Pula from Copenhagen and Gothenburg.

And more Pula options for Scandivanian tourists, with new flights from Jettime from Norrkoping and Orebro.

If you thought Croatia's airports were busy in 2016...
