Earlier this week, the famous singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus was a guest at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Apart from discussing her upcoming album and a sudden change in her image, Cyrus and Fallon did a skit singing a couple of music hits... with Google-translated lyrics.
The lyrics of hits such as Ed Sheeran's Shape of You and Dusty Springfield's Son of a Preacher Man were first Google-translated to Croatian, than back to English. Sheeran's I'm in love with your body turned into I like that cadaver, and a line from Super Freak that girl is pretty kinky now says this girl is my relative – makes you wonder what the translation system thinks about us Croats.
There's one thing that made me think Google translate was on to something, though: Springfield's he'd kiss and tell me everything was all right turned to he married me and said that he was correct. Sounds more like real life now, doesn't it?
