Zagrebačka Banka Enables Clients to Open Account by Taking a Selfie

Zaba presented an innovative and quick new way to open a bank account.

Zagrebačka banka, recently voted the best bank in Croatia by Euromoney, has presented their latest service – opening an account by taking a selfie, and all you need is a smartphone and an ID card, Netokracija reports on July 18.

The first thing you need to do is download an app for iOs or Android phone.

Then you scan your ID and take a selfie, and select a current or giro account. Zagrebačka banka says that the process is completely safe and legal. Opening an account this way automatically activates online and mobile banking, making it easier for users to keep track of their income and transactions. With over 300,000 people using their m-zaba service and 500,000 using e-zaba, the bank has the highest number of online and mobile banking users in Croatia.

Dijana Hrastović, Zagrebačka banka management board member, stressed that this was an important technological innovation that would create new relationships between the bank and its clients.
She added that this would save people’s time because they won't wait in endless lines at the bank, and that younger clients will undoubtedly enjoy the process as well.

All clients who use their mobile phones to open an account will not have to pay the service fee for six months, and clients who recommend the service to their friends via Viber, WhatsApp, e-mail, or SMS will get a full year of free banking.
