By 16 September 2017

More than 250 artworks by the great Croatian artist Vasko Lipovac will be displayed at the retrospective exhibition in Klovićevi Dvori, which will remain open until January 2018.

On the 14th of September 2017, a large retrospective exhibition of the renowned Croatian artist Vasko Lipovac opened in the Klovićevi Dvori Gallery, reports ZG Portal on September 13, 2017.

The exhibition of the artist's great opus carefully selected by the distinguished art historian Zvonko Maković strives to show and present all of Lipovac's works in one place, thus demonstrating the various artistic characteristics and different media within which Vasko Lipovac tried to realize his own work.

The exhibition shows about 250 works of art on two floors of Klović's Palace in Upper Town, from sculptures, paintings, prints, drawings, reliefs and installations to very intimate drawings created at the very end of Lipovac's life, presenting deeply humanistic, thoughtful and artistic imagination of the artist's world, of which the artist believed had its own purpose. The artworks, largely owned by the artist's family, which will be presented to the public for the first time, underscore the importance of Lipovac's origins in his earliest creative endeavours, including the local culture of his hometown of Škaljar as well as Kotor.

Vasko built his own authentic style and position within the Croatian modern art in the second half of the 20th century. This exhibition will provide a rarely seen cross-section through all stages of the artist's exceptional creativity and prolific career, ranging from the first works made in the early 1950s to his last drawings created at the very end of the artist's life in 2006.

You can see the exhibition from September 14, 2017, until January 7, 2018. The curator of the exhibition is Ana Medić, and the author of the exhibition is Zvonko Maković.
