How Will 2017's Dubrovnik Winter Festival Differ From 2016?

By 18 November 2017

What changes are in store for this year's Dubrovnik Winter Festival?

Dubrovnik's Winter Festival is becoming increasingly popular with each passing year and with a rich program to please all ages and tastes, there couldn't be a better way to spend the festive period than in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site during the most wonderful time of the year.

As Dubrovacki Dnevnik writes on the 18th of November, 2017, Nova Mokošica will play a role in the program this year, on the small sports field next to Caffe Bar Kiss, programs dedicated primarily to children will be held on Sundays in the afternoon from 15:00 to 17:00, and from 18:00 onwards, performances from numerous local Dubrovnik bands and Klapa music will be staged. Mokošica's elementary school sports hall will act as an indoor location should the weather conditions become adverse.

Saturday afternoons are reserved for Uvala Lapad where various children's programs and facilities such as the festive ice-skating rink will be placed, as well as various youth programs. Different choirs, dance groups and musicians will perform in the bay near the ice rink to entertain all those who pass by.

In addition to the announced performances by popular entertainers and singers on Stradun over several weekends (including Gibonni, Jacques, Massimo, Marko Tolja, Pavel, Frajle...) live music at Gundulićeva poljana, Brsalje and Prijeko can be enjoyed, and live performances from local pop/rock bands as well as traditional Klapa music will also be on offer throughout the duration of the festival.

The Lujo Šoletić Park in Gruž will also be a place to spend quality time, along with two cottages (kucice) with food on offer.

Also, as in previous years during the afternoon and evening hours, free transport from Dubrovnik's Libertas city buses will be organised for all.

A special advent timetable will connect all the locations, with specially run festival programs tailored to the youngest and their parents in order to enjoy the Christmas spirit and the advent atmosphere, as well as everything the City of Dubrovnik has prepared in cooperation with numerous businesses and institutions.
