100-Year-Old Torpedo Found on Ugljan Island

By 19 December 2017

It's been a strange week on the Croatian coast

A couple of days after the sea washed up a WWII sea mine on Banje beach in Dubrovnik, another seaside location was surprised by a curious find.

A torpedo originating from World War I floated to the coast of Ugljan island, at a place between the towns of Kali and Kukljica, reports Morski.hr on December 19, 2017.

The 100 year-old torpedo was recovered by the divers of the Special Unit of the Police Deparment in Split, assisted by naval police officers and bomb disposal experts from Zadar. They were quick to establish the torpedo doesn't present any danger, as it doesn't contain any explosive charge.

The torpedo is currently stored at a warehouse of the Police Department Zadar, and word has it a certain museum from Rijeka has already shown interest to collect and properly process the object.

A WWII mine in Dubrovnik, a WWI torpedo on Ugljan... who knows what the last ten days of the year will bring!
