''Friends of the Sea'' Exhibition in Mali Lošinj!

Photography and nostalgia along the coast as the ninth ''Friends of the Sea'' (Prijatelji mora) exhibition takes to Mali Lošinj.

As Morski writes on the 22nd of May, 2018, for the ninth year in a row, the popular "Friends of the Sea" exhibition project will take to the squares and the shores of various destinations located along the Croatian coast, and this year's edition will host a series of black and white records, giving the entire exhibition a nostalgic feel.

With a calm, slow rhythm which will send the viewer's eye and mind back in time to much simpler days on the coast, the object of the photography will be highlighted this year as humanism and connection, based on nostalgia for times in which people depended very much on each other, and were closely emotionally aligned and connected. The works on display were selected by a professional team from the "Rovinj Photo Days" festival, featuring Stanko Abadžić, Max Juhasz, and the well known Osijek maestros Mario Romulić and Dražen Stojčić.

Otherwise, the Rijeka-based Livingstone Association and the Astoria company came up with the idea of the national cultural and tourist campaign entitled "Friends of the Sea" back in 2009. Every year, the main aim of the exhibition is to open large-format photograph exhibitions across thirteen Croatian cities during the warm summer months, to emphasise to both the Croatian public and to all visitors, wherever they be from, the huge role of photography in media culture, social responsibility, and the priceless value it holds with respect to the promotion of life and tourism along the Adriatic coast.

After a trilogy with the main theme of the exhibition being underwater and the seabed accompanied by various Mediterranean essays, as well as a historical series focused on the beginning of the century, as well as the 1950s and 1960s, the exhibition's ninth year shines the spotlight the golden age of fine art photography, paired with the essence of modern life on the Adriatic.

In addition to the Mali Lošinj Tourist Board, this, the ninth exhibition, has been carefully organised in close cooperation with the respective tourist boards of Rovinj, Pula, Krk, Zadar, Biograd na moru, Šibenik, Split, Malinska, Rijeka, Zagreb, and more.

The "Friends of the Sea" exhibition, under the title of "As it once was'' (Kao nekad) this year, will be on display until May the 31st, 2018 along Mali Lošinj's picturesque waterfront (riva), and the general expectation is that more than one million people from Croatia and from abroad will visit it across numerous Croatian coastal destinations this summer.
