Water Ski Lift Being Constructed Near Pula

Something new for Pula!

As Morski writes on the 3rd of June, 2018, works on this long-awaited project finally began on Friday. As Glas Istre learned from Željko Andrijanić from the Rijeka company Aqua Silentium, early on Saturday morning, a boat that would drill the pilot for the terrace and the bridge, more specifically for the access part of the ski lift arrived.

''According to the plan, the rough part of the construction works involved should be completed by June the 15th, and the ski lift should be in place and host the very first skier by the end of this month,'' Andrijanić told Glas Istre.

Otherwise, this project is a huge six million kuna investment, and the holder of the entire thing is the Warm up d.o.o. company headquartered in Zagreb, meaning the money behind it comes from a Croatian investor. The skiing trail will be 420 metres in length and as many as six people will be able to ski at any one time, with prices ranging from 40 to 250 kuna.

''We've been met with a lot of resistance from Green Istria (Zelena Istra), who believe that this bay isn't suitable for a ski lift. However, in agreement with the City, we defined that the platform should be separated by 67 metres from the coast, which will remain fully functional for all swimmers. We're offering a complete sports and recreational package, and we'll also build a smaller catering facility, sanitary facilities and a skiing preparation area for users. Competitions and championships will also be held here, and we'll also have some ten employees, consisting of mostly local people,'' emphasised Andrijanić.
