Hotel Esplanade Zagreb Ready for World Cup Final

The famous hotel joins the football craze.

Croatia is definitely crazy about football these days, and many tourists which are visiting its capital are taking part as well. Today’s World Cup final between Croatia and France will be watched in the fantastic football atmosphere in one of the most distinguished venues in Zagreb, on the Oleander terrace of the Esplanade Hotel, accompanied by delicious meals prepared by chef Ana Grgić, as well as nicely chilled beer.

But the major attraction, in addition to the football match itself, will be the Hotel Esplanade’s facade, which will be painted in red and white squares this evening, in honour of the historic achievement of Croatian footballers. Another spectacle awaits us on Monday as well, when the citizens of Zagreb and their guests will welcome the Croatian football heroes back from Russia.

The Hotel Esplanade has offered a special fan menu for all matches of the World Cup: pulled pork sandwiched with chilli potatoes, peanuts in wasabi crust with mini chicken burgers, small steak tartare with French fries, crunchy mushroom pie, prosciutto and Pag cheese croquettes with dried tomatoes sauce, and fried shrimp in kadayif curry. Refreshments offered are Merkat, Flamingo, and Rakoon – the top-quality Croatian Zeppelin craft beer.

Hotel general manager Ivica Max Krizmanić presented the hotel’s offer. “The entire Esplanade Hotel, my whole team, and the guests who have been sending us congratulations from all over the world are delighted with the enormous success achieved by our team at the World Cup in Russia. We are really proud of everything that the football team has achieved for Croatia, and we have decided to paint the facade of this historic Zagreb hotel in red and white squares, and in that way thank them for their efforts and success. At our hotel, we will enjoy the football spectacle and support them. We are looking forward to the final and a great welcome party on Monday.”
