Alan Sugar is the host of the British version of “The Apprentice”.
Lord Alan Sugar, a British business magnate, media personality, politician and political advisor, the former chairman of the Tottenham Hotspur football club, is exploring the Croatian Adriatic sea in his 125-million-kuna yacht Lady A. He arrived in Croatia from Italy. So far, he has visited Pula, Split and the island of Korčula, reports Poslovni.hr on July 22, 2018.
Lord Alan Sugar is also the star of the BBC reality show The Apprentice, which was first produced in 2005 and has had 13 seasons so far. In the TV show, he has the same role as Donald Trump had in the American version. For his role in the show, Sugar won the prestigious British BAFTA Award in 2012.
During the recent World Cup, he drew criticism from the public and the BBC leadership after sending a controversial tweet, comparing Senegal's football team with beach traders at Marbella. Although some demanded that he should be dismissed by the BBC, the TV broadcaster’s bosses decided against it.
Sugar is joined on his yacht by Nick Hewer, who is a well-known television presenter and a former public relations consultant. From 2005 to 2014, Hewer appeared as Lord Sugar's advisor in the British version of The Apprentice.
After a short walk through Korčula, the duo had some fun with a Croatian photographer, whom they called “a nice fellow.”
According to the Sunday Times Rich List, Sugar became a billionaire in 2015. In 2016, his fortune was estimated at 1.15 billion pounds, making him the 95th richest person in Great Britain. He started his business career as a trader, and his largest business venture was the consumer electronics company Amstrad.
