He met with his favourite Croatian chef Hrvoje Zirojević once again.
Bono Vox has come to Croatia to spend his holidays once again, and, after two years, he sought out one of his favourite chefs, Hrvoje Zirojević, reports Index.hr on August 10, 2018.
The famous singer previously stayed at Palmižana on Hvar in 2016, when he praised Zirojević and published a photo on the official U2 profile. In the accompanying post, he said Zirojević was a great chef. “You don't have to know how to pronounce the name of chef Hrvoje Zirojević to know he's great,” Bono wrote at the time, in a post which received over 100,000 likes.
How much Bono liked the Croatian chef’s dishes is best demonstrated by the fact that now, two years later, he has returned to find him at the very same restaurant.
“It was a pleasant surprise to me,” Zirojević told Index.hr, adding that famous Bono this time around enjoyed oysters, tuna, and shrimps. “We hugged and he told me he liked it very much,” said the happy chef whose excellent dishes obviously cannot ever be forgotten.
“He promised that he would return. As soon as he arrived, he asked the waitress about the chef. He could not precisely pronounce my name, but it was clear who he was looking for,” said Zirojević.
After lunch, Bono wanted to talk with the chef. “He asked me how I was. I asked him how did he like the food. He said it was fabulous. We took a photo and I had to leave because the other guests were waiting. We tried to do everything we could to make him feel pleasant here, despite all the people who wanted to have their picture taken with him,” said Zirojević.
Bono is not the only U2 member fascinated by the Croatian coast. Last year, The Edge celebrated his 56th birthday in Cavtat.
Zirojević has cooked for many other celebrities, including Beyonce and Jay Z, tennis star Novak Đoković, former Ukrainian footballer Andrei Shevchenko, and Saudi and Jordanian princes. The restaurant was also visited by Prince Harry.
