Croatian Prosciutto Stars at Major Food Industry Show

Prosciuttos from Croatia presented at one of the largest international food fairs.

SIAL, one of the most important European and world food industry fairs, was opened in Paris on Sunday. This is the sixth year that Croatian exhibitors are present at the fair thanks to the Croatian Chamber of Commerce. This year, Apimel, Dupin, Đanić, Frozen Food International, Hermes International, Imanje Kapronca, Pekar, Pisinium, Prodan Tartufi and Pršut Voštane will present their products at the Parc des Expositions de Paris until 25 October, reports Agrobiz.hr on October 22, 2018.

Among visitors to the fair, the most attention has been paid to the prosciutto, a product protected at the EU level. Pršut Voštane currently exports about ten percent of its products, and its goal is to expand its presence on the European market, in countries where it is already present (Slovenia, Macedonia, Austria, Sweden, Germany and Slovakia), as well as by expanding to new markets. The company’s marketing manager Ana Babić said that fairs such as SIAL help manufacturers build good foundations to market their products to foreign countries. “SIAL is a great opportunity to introduce the European market to premium Croatian delicacies. We hope SIAL will fully justify our expectations,” Babić said.

This is the first year that Pisinium exhibits its products at the SIAL fair. “We believe that this fair offers us an excellent opportunity to meet a large number of potential customers and is a perfect place to gather information on the trends in our industry and markets. We know that our Istrian prosciutto and other cured products will come to European stores, the question is only when and how. Maybe we will meet new clients at this year's fair, but this is also an opportunity to meet with existing partners and hear what people around the world have to say about our products after they taste them,” said Hani Hreljak, director of Pisinium.

With over 7,200 exhibitors from 109 countries and over 160,000 registered visitors, the SIAL trade show has confirmed its leading position among food industry fairs in Europe and the world. "SIAL has a special reputation. Business results cannot be achieved overnight. The market requires you to be present here for several years in a row if you are a serious player. Otherwise, your potential partners will not take you seriously. That is why we are with our members here for the sixth year in a row,” explained Jasminka Dukić from the Croatian Chamber of Commerce.
