Prepare for traffic jams...
It seems the cruise ship story never ends, despite the warnings from UNESCO and the impossibility it causes for residents of Dubrovnik, other tourists and the infrastructure of the tiny city, which was simply not built to withstand such heavy volumes of people and vehicles.
The City of Dubrovnik informs citizens that on Thursday, June the 29th, 2017, six ships will be expected on round trips carrying almost 10,000 passengers who will subsequently disembark in the city. The arrival of four of the ships is expected between the hours of 06:30 and 09:00.
All ships will arrive and dock in the main Port in Gruz and near to impossible crowds are to be expected, and there will be greater pressure on pedestrian traffic in the area of Pile and the Old City.
All the competent authorities of the City of Dubrovnik, Sanitat Dubrovnik and the Tourist Board of the City of Dubrovnik are apparently ''ready to deal'' with the large number of people and will coordinate the situation to create as little crowds and traffic jams as possible during critical times. But, as this has been proven time and time again, will be of little to no use.
The Port Authority of Dubrovnik, as announced at the meeting with the mayor, is set to apply a new regime for the "release" of a shuttle bus to the Old City as of tomorrow, by transferring nine buses from the port area to the city in intervals of ten minutes.
