The thought alone is enough to make most people's heads spin.
Dubrovnik's City Walls are 82ft (25m) in height and run an uninterrupted course of almost 2,000 metres, other than the cable car which takes passengers to the top of Mount Srdj, they're Dubrovnik's number one attraction.
The best preserved medieval defence walls still standing in Europe, Dubrovnik's City Walls are a huge source of not only pride, but revenue. It would be difficult to imagine, let alone count, the sheer amount of photos taken while walking them, from selfies to the incredible views over the city, the historic centre and the Adriatic sea all being snapped hundreds of thousands of times throughout the summer season.
While almost all entrances and exits from the walls take place without incident, there are some tourists who like to take things too far and risk injuries so catastrophically serious that death would be a more favourable outcome. As DuList reported on the 7th of July, 2017, a photo was taken by local resident Vera Skaramuca entitled ''Idioti na našim zidinama!'' (Idiots on our walls!) appearing to show three men climbing and standing on top of part of the wall behind which there is no safety barrier to prevent what would be an absolutely horrendous fall.
Mixed with full exposure to the grizzly heat of the midday summer sunshine and all attention on trying to get a good photo, which I can only assume was the reason for such a stupid move, it would be very easy to lose your footing on the stone and meet an extremely unenviable end at the bottom.
It isn't the first time this has happened and unfortunately it is doubtful that it will be the last, but whatever you do when you're in Dubrovnik, don't do this. Under any circumstance.
