Drivers are advised to check the forecast and exercise caution on the road
Heavy snowfall has been causing problems in traffic for a good part of this past week, and judging by the forecast, it's not about to let down just yet.
Just as the forecast had predicted, parts of continental Croatia saw more snowfall earlier tonight, reports Jutarnji on February 6, 2018. The Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ) announced we can expect cloudy skies all over the country on Wednesday, with a chance of heavy rain on the Adriatic, especially in Dalmatia where we might see occasional thunderstorms during the day.
We can expect another round of heavy snowfall in continental Croatia, with a possibility of a wintry mix affecting traffic conditions in Lika and Slavonia overnight. Drivers are advised to stay cautious as the roads might be covered in a layer of ice by tomorrow morning.
Tempestuous jugo wind will hit Dalmatia on Wednesday, while the northern Adriatic will see moderate to strong bura wind, especially in the Velebit area where certain restrictions in traffic can be expected.
DHMZ issued a number of warnings for the whole of Croatia on Meteoalarm. A yellow alert was issued for the regions of Slavonia, Baranja, Gorski Kotar and Lika owing to expected heavy snowfall which might lead to treacherous traffic conditions. Yellow alerts are also in effect for the rest of the country, due to announced freezing rain and strong wind.
Drivers are advised to check the forecast before departure, as well as to exercise caution on the road and lower their speed accordingly. Better safe than sorry!
