Slovenia to Fully Open Labour Market to Croats On July 1st

Another labour market fully opens its doors to Croatian citizens.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 19th of June, 2018, the facilitation of employment for Croatian citizens on the Slovenian labour market will enable the Slovenian economy to facilitate the fulfillment of current labour force needs, they say from the embassy.

Slovenia will fully open the doors of its labour market to Croatian citizens from the 1st of July, 2018. There will no longer be any restrictions on Croatian workers on the Slovenian labour market and they will no longer need to obtain work permits in order to be legally employed, Večernji list writes.

Slovenia has not extended its limit on access to the Slovenian labour market for citizens of the Republic of Croatia, meaning that from July the 1st onwards, Croatian citizens no longer need work permits and are in the same position, and can expect the same treatment on the Slovenian labour market as other European Union citizens, they say from the Slovenian Embassy in Zagreb.

"The employment facilitation of Croatian citizens on the Slovenian labour market will enable the Slovenian economy to fill the current labour force requirements more easily, and will certainly contribute to addressing the difficulties of those Slovenian companies who need to fill in their staff gaps with the ability to hire foreigners,'' they say from the embassy.

Slovenia was, however, given the option to extend their restrictions on Croatian nationals freely entering their labour market for a further two years, but in view of the less than ideal situation on the Slovenian labour market and the difficulties of many Slovenian companies with regard to the lack of an adequate workforce, the restrictions were no longer needed, they added.
