Incredible Scenes: Hvar Streets Flooded After Relentless Downpour (VIDEO)

By 3 October 2018

Wild scenes from Hvar town as weird weather ripped through parts of Dalmatia on Tuesday.

After yesterday's heavy rains flooded Dubrovnik, the ruthless thunderstorm rumbled into Hvar on Tuesday night - and between 5pm and 8pm, a hundred liters of rain per square meter fell in the famous summer town, reports 24 Sata on October 3, 2018.

The usually packed streets of Hvar town looked a bit different this time around, as water plunged through the alleyways and squares, taking everything in its path. As expected, firefighters were forced to the scene Tuesday night to pump water at multiple locations.

A waterspout could even be seen out at sea, which luckily never entered the mainland - though there appeared to be a few in the space of an hour.

By 10pm, firefighters had intervened 15 times, pumping water out of apartments, restaurants, cafes, and shops.

While the rain stopped after 9pm, and although the town of Hvar experienced one fierce flood, other parts of the island, such as Jelsa and Stari Grad, failed to see a single raindrop.
