The Islamic Community in Croatia condemns the terrible events in Egypt.

The Islamic Community in Croatia condemned the kidnapping of Croatian national Tomislac Salopek in Egypt, saying that actions like that had nothing to do with the tolerant teachings of the Quran, reports Dalje on August 6.

"Evil deeds like this have nothing to do with tolerant and noble teachings of Islam and this is an erroneous method of extortion and blackmail by which kidnappers want to achieve their objectives. The sanctity of life in the Quran is visible and it is a gift of God and as such it is protected and nobody has the right to destroy it," read a statement issued by the Islamic Community in Croatia.

The head of the Islamic Community in Croatia, mufti Aziz ef.Hasanovic, has appealed to the Egyptian government and Shawki Ibrahim Abdel-Karim Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, to use their influence to prevent the killing of the Croatian, who was kidnapped while driving home from work at his French company on July 22. A 48-hour ultimatum to spare his life by releasing female prisoners from Egypt's jails is due to expire today.
