Croatia Airlines Receives 250 Million Kuna to Stabilise Business

ZAGREB, September 19, 2019 - The government on Thursday made the decision paving the way for recapitalisation of the national flag carrier, Croatia Airlines (CA) whereby the cabinet okayed a grant in the amount of 250 million kuna to stabilise the airline's business ahead of the recapitalisation procedure. The amount was determined based on an analysis of the shortage in financial resources and in line with a plan prepared by the company and approved by the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure. Government to Accept All Demands Pension Referendum Initiative

ZAGREB, September 19, 2019 - Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on Thursday said that the government had decided to uphold all the proposals put forward by the "67 is too much" initiative and that it would be forwarding a bill to parliament to amend the Pension Insurance Act and return the age pension eligibility to 65 and that it would propose amendments to the Labour Act that will enable people to continue working if they wish after they turn 65. It would appear that the final decision on who will get to build the access roads to Pelješac bridge has finally been reached. Franak Association Expects 100,000 Lawsuits in Swiss Franc Loans Case

ZAGREB, September 18, 2019 - Representatives of the Franak association, which brings together holders of loans originally indexed to the Swiss franc, said on Wednesday that the Supreme Court ruling of Tuesday constituted the final victory in their class action against eight banks and that by June 2023 more than 100,000 citizens were expected to sue banks over unfair terms regarding the currency clause in their loan contracts. Tax Reform Bills Put to Public Consultation

ZAGREB, September 18, 2019 - The Croatian Finance Ministry on Tuesday put to month-long public consultation nine bills from a fourth round of tax reform, which, among other things, envisage tax breaks for young people, a lower, 13% VAT rate for the hospitality sector, etc. The latest round of tax changes was outlined in late July by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Finance Minister Zdravko Marić, who then said that the fourth tax reform round was expected to reduce the tax burden by 3.75 billion kuna.
