New Croatian Political Party, Social Democrats, Established

ZAGREB, 9 July, 2022 - Members of the Social Democrats Association on Saturday established a new left-wing political party, the Social Democrats, and elected Davorko Vidović as president, who said they would translate social democratic values into the political fight. The new party's leadership comprises former high-ranking members of the Social Democratic Party who were ousted from or left the SDP last October after disagreements with its presidency. The Social Democrats will be the largest opposition party in parliament, where they have 18 seats - 14 members of the party and four independents. SuperSport Superkup: Dinamo Beats Hajduk on Penalties at Maksimir

July 9, 2022 - Dinamo beat Hajduk 4:1 on penalties to win the SuperSport Superkup on Saturday in Zagreb.  Dinamo and Hajduk opened the new season of Croatian football, fighting for the first trophy of the season - the SuperSport Superkup. Around two and a half thousand Hajduk fans visited Maksimir for the first derby of the season, many of them on the 'Bili Vlak', or organized train transport that left this morning from Split. Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić Fail to Defend Wimbledon Doubles Title

July 9, 2022 - Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić were unable to defend their Wimbledon doubles title after a super tie break in the 5th set decided the match.  Croatia's best doubles team Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić fought to defend their title at Wimbledon today against Australian duo Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell. Croatia Meets Criteria for €6.8 Billion from New Financial Envelope

ZAGREB, 9 July, 2022 - Croatia has met the condition for the withdrawal of €6.8 billion from a new EU financial envelope, the Croatian Regional Development and EU Funds Ministry stated in a press release on Saturday. On Friday, the ministry forwarded to the European Commission the final versions of the necessary agreements, operational programmes and the Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI) programme. Croatia's Coronavirus Update: 1,488 New Cases, 2 Deaths, 1,129 Recoveries

ZAGREB, 9 July, 2022 - In the past 24 hours, 1,488 new cases of the SARS-CoV-2 virus infection have been diagnosed in Croatia, and another five COVID patients have died bringing the COVID-related death toll to 16,103, the national COVID response team reported on Saturday. Currently, there are 8,577 active cases, including 344 hospitalised patients, of whom 13 are on ventilators. Since the first registered case of the infection with the novel virus in Croatia on 25 February 2020, the country has reported 1,158,420 cases of this infectious disease. Number of Hotel Beds at Croatia's Coast Rising, Private Vacation Rentals Down
