Croatia and Serbia to Meet in Davis Cup Semifinals on Friday

December 2, 2021 - The Croatian men's tennis team will play against Serbia in the Davis Cup semifinals in Madrid on Friday. Serbia defeated Kazakhstan 2-1 in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, although they lost the first match. The first point for Kazakhstan was secured by Mikhail Kukushkin, who after three hours and 18 minutes of play defeated Miomir Kecmanovic 7:6 (5), 4:6, 7:6 (11). Damir Krznar Sacked as Dinamo Coach After Croatian Cup Elimination

December 2, 2021 - After Rijeka won in the Croatian Cup quarterfinal on Wednesday, the coach of the Croatian champion Dinamo, Damir Krznar, has resigned. Krznar took over Dinamo in mid-March this year after being assistant to former coach Zoran Mamić. Recall, Mamić had to leave the Dinamo bench due to a final conviction. Krznar led the team in a 3:0 victory against Tottenham in the Europa League round of 16, reported HRT. Croatian Cup Quarterfinals: Osijek Wins on Penalties, Rijeka Knocks Out Dinamo for Semis

December 1, 2021 - The Croatian Cup quarterfinals came to an end on Wednesday as Osijek topped Slaven Belupo on penalties and Rijeka knocked out Dinamo 3:1 at Maksimir to secure their spots in the semifinals.  Osijek became the third semifinalist of this season's Croatian Cup on Wednesday, beating Slaven Belupo 5:4 on penalties after no goals were scored in 120 minutes at City Garden Stadium.  Although there were no goals, this quarterfinal match was full of events, as both teams missed a penalty during regulation time and both finished the match with 10 players in extra time.  In the…

World AIDS Day: 58 HIV Cases Diagnosed in Croatia This Year

ZAGREB, 1 December, 2021 - In the first ten months of this year, 58 persons in Croatia have been diagnosed with HIV, including AIDS, down from 69 at the same time last year, the Public Health Institute said on Wednesday on the occasion of World AIDS Day. Of those 58, 18 had AIDS. In said period, 12 persons infected with HIV died, including three of AIDS. Since 1985, when HIV/AIDS was first registered in Croatia, there have been 1,886 registered cases of infection, including 590 persons who have developed AIDS. Over 2/3 of Sisak-Moslavina County Population Need Some Kind of Humanitarian Aid

ZAGREB, 1 December, 2021 -  In the 173,000-strong Sisak-Moslavina County, which was hit by devastating earthquakes in December 2020, 118,000 inhabitants are in need of some sort of humanitarian aid, according to the findings of a study which were presented in Zagreb on Wednesday. Of those 118,000 residents in need of aid, 60% are people in vulnerable groups, Ombudswoman Tena Šimonović Einwalter said during the presentation of the study on the estimates of humanitarian needs in the quake-hit county.
