Last summer was crazy, and there is such a great story to be told." Ah yes, the World Cup, that incredible run, those amazing fans, THAT homecoming. Lessons from the Private Sector: Creating Viral Croatian Tourism Campaigns

September 8, 2019 - Tourism promotion is a complex thing, but how to achieve a global viral Croatian tourism campaign without breaking the bank? Lessons from the private sector.  One of the nicest feelings as an online writer is producing an article that goes viral. It is not a common occurrence - at least certainly in my case - but when it happens, it is truly uplifting and a joy to watch unfold.  I have only written one truly viral article in the 8 years I have been spamming the Internet, and ironically it was an article which took me…

Getting to Croatia Easier than Ever for Tourists from USA, Canada, Australia

September 6, 2019 - And getting to your destination in Croatia has never been easier thanks to Solo Transfers.  Croatia has proven to be one of the most popular destinations for a summer holiday, though it’s not hard to see why. While the sweltering sun and sparkling sea are shoo-ins for the summer, Croatia’s capital and continental region offer year-round tourism and an exciting alternative for adventure tourists and cyclists.  Croatia’s popularity doesn’t look like its going anywhere anytime soon, so it’s no surprise that it didn’t take long for some of the world’s top airlines to catch onto the…

Croatia's Toughest Race? Faros Marathon in Stari Grad This Saturday

The 44th Faros Marathon, a 16km open sea swimming race will take place once again in Stari Grad on Hvar on September 7, 2019.  Of all the sporting events I have seen in Croatia, I can't recall one being more demanding or attracting a higher calibre of participant (from Olympic medal winners to world champions) than the Faros Marathon in Stari Grad.  An annual event since its inauguration in 1976, the Faros Marathon has been a popular fixture on the Stari Grad tourism calendar ever since. Although beset by problems in recent times and under threat of not taking place…

Croatian Tourism Ministry Fails in Its Key 2013-2020 Main Development Goal

September 5, 2019 - But in a sign of progress, the Croatian Tourism Ministry seems to have mastered the spelling of the word 'until' since 2013. Accountability - or the complete lack of accountability - is something that fascinates me living here in The Beautiful Croatia. I have lived in some interesting places on the planet, but nowhere have I ever come across a country where there is less accountability than in Croatia.  When I was an aid worker in Rwanda after the genocide, I caught my warehouse manager stealing from the warehouse, and we reported the theft to the…
