Glorious Split in New 4K Video of the Dalmatian Capital

Locals will tell you it is the most beautiful city in the world with the most beautiful women in the world, and it is hard to disagree watching the latest video shared by the Split Tourist Board on February 19, 2019.  There is something about the city of Split which makes it endlessly attractive to me.  The light. As an island boy, catching the city in the early morning sunshine and the gorgeous stone of Diocletian's Palace and Sv. Duje's belltower was always the perfect welcome after a very early start.  Sunsets were magical too, as I took my boat…

Zagreb Tourist Board, Missing 45k (and More) and the Abu Dhabi Connection

February 18, 2019 - Croatian media is reporting that Croatian tourism organisations have been defrauded of 45,000 euro, but the real story is a lot more interesting. (Editor's note - a big thank you to Goran Rihelj from HR Turizam, who first alerted us to the story several days ago. A lot of Goran's research is included, and Croatian language readers can find his text on the subject here - his story will appear tomorrow and the link added).  It is not the first time in the history of conferences that an organiser has cancelled or disappeared with the money. …

Well, if you are looking for a combination of great weather and truly fabulous prices, it would appear that it will be hard to beat May 2019 in Istria and the capital city, Pula.  I don't usually pay much attention to travel offers on the Internet, but a headline as I was browsing this morning caught my attention about holidays…

Samobor Fašnik Returns in 2019 for 193rd Time!

We've already written about the big, days long party known as the "Samobor Fašnik", a carnival celebration traditionally held in the town of Samobor just west of Zagreb in the previous years. This year, the event will (of course) take place again, and a couple of days ago a press conference announcing it took place in Samobor. It is expected that several tens of thousands of masked people will arrive to Samobor in the period between February 22nd and March 5th, when the final event will take place. Two weekends in the row will be filled with programmes for masked…

Can Inland Dalmatia Become the Croatian Tuscany?

The Inland Dalmatia or ‘Zagora’ part of Split-Dalmatia County takes up a small slice of the tourist cake in the region. With even more opportunities to be realized, year after year, tourism in this part of the county is growing, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on February 15, 2019.  The Croatian Tourist Board even recognized this. Thus, the area that borders Vrgorac, the Imotski and Cetina region, Dugopolje and Klis were declared the most successful destination for rural tourism in Croatia in 2018. Just one year before, that same destination was in the final fight for this prestigious award. Last year, Inland…

Great news from the Croatian national carrier Croatia Airlines as they are targeting 5% growth in 2019, which would make it their busiest year yet. Crikvenica Riviera Branding Itself as "Riviera of Love"

It is quite fitting and appropriate that the press conference announcing the pilot-project with the goal of branding Crikvenica Riviera as the "Riviera of Love" was held on the Valentine's Day. The project "In love with Crikvenica" is financed by the EU, within Interreg Italy-Croatia 2014-2020 programme, and the first step is taking place right now, February 12th until 16th, presenting the partners (travel agencies, tour-operators, guides and media) Crikvenica Riviera as a love destination, which will make it increasingly popular outside of the main tourist season as well. Hrturizam.hr writes about the press conference, where Crikvenica's Deputy Major Ivona…
