Niche Tourism: From Nissan Micra to Rimac Nevera, Dubrovnik, Car Launch Hotspot

March 29, 2022 - Where does one go to launch a new model of car? A look at Dubrovnik niche tourism - the car launch.  A few years ago, on my way down to Albania, I once again passed the Sun Gardens Dubrovnik resort, one of the flagship resort developments on the Croatian coast. As I was (unusually) ahead of schedule, I decided to pop in for a coffee and finally take a look at one of Dalmatia's leading hotel resorts.  I didn't get far, for the hotel was closed for a private event, and there were Nissan Micras EVERYWHERE. …

Will Seoul-Zagreb Flights Really Return this Summer?

March 28, 2022 - The latest news on flights to Croatia as the return of Seoul-Zagreb flights this summer seems increasingly unlikely.  After Zagreb Airport published its summer flight schedule, there was a discussion about the available flights between Zagreb and Seoul, a line that was canceled in November 2019, reports Croatian Aviation. The airline's summer flight schedule is available on the official website of Zagreb International Airport. Among others, the announcements of two Korean airlines, T'way and Korean Air to Zagreb, stand out. But will those flights really happen? Namely, the Korean MOLIT issued a license to T'way Air…

2022 Croatian Tourist Season Bookings 20% Less than 2019

March 28, 2022 - 2022 Croatian tourist season bookings are currently around 20% less than the record 2019.  Just when we thought that the pandemic was coming to an end and that we could finally return to everyday life and hope for a record tourist season, inflation and the Russian invasion of Ukraine entered the race. Reservations have slowed down and are currently about 20 percent less than they were at this time in 2019. This season, one of the biggest problems could again be a workforce shortage, reports HRT. In the spring, tourism job fairs begin, where seasonal workers…

Zagreb Full of Light: Festival of Lights, Glow Run Video, Photo, Magic

March 27, 2022 - Five magical days which lit up Zagreb in March - a photo and video appreciation of this year's Festival of Lights Zagreb, including the inaugural Glow Run.  One thing I am realising about tourism in Croatia is that Zagreb knows how to grow a concept. The Croatian capital is not blessed with the sun-kissed beaches of the Adriatic or an endless coastline, but it has plenty of other resources in its arsenal to develop its own unique tourism story.  I have watched Croatian tourism very closely over the last decade, and it has been instructive to…

Affordable, Useful, Stunning Daily Croatian Internal Flights, And It is Not Croatia Airlines

March 27, 2022 - Looking to travel around Croatia quickly, at an affordable price, and with spectacular views? Meet the Croatian internal flights they don't tell you about.  The Croatian motorways are excellent. Expensive, but excellent.  And with so many projects on the TCN plate at the moment, from Dubrovnik to Osijek, travelling between destinations can be not only expensive, but time-consuming.  Earlier this month, I had a long trip starting in Zagreb, which took in Split, Dubrovnik, Tivat, Tirana, Dubrovnik, Osijek, and back to Zagreb. As my car was in the garage, and with fuel prices rising due to…

Most Numerous Croatian Easter Guests From Nearby Countries

March the 27th, 2022 - The most numerous Croatian Easter guests so far are coming from nearby and neighbouring countries, and this figure also includes Croatian residents visiting other parts of the country themselves. We recently wrote about the Croatian 2022 pre-season not turning out (at least so far) quite how predictions and expectations seemed not so long ago. With private accommodation owners worrying about the state of affairs on the run up to summer, luxury travel agencies have a slightly different picture. As Poslovni Dnevnik/Suzana Varosanec writes, the number of reservations made by Croatian guests is systematically growing from…

Renters Worried, Croatian 2022 Pre-Season Worse Than Expected

March the 26th, 2022 - Renters have become concerned and are biting their nails at the fact that the Croatian 2022 pre-season isn't quite what was expected as yet. Could hopes for Easter tourism be dashed? As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, according to local Zadar portal Zadarski.hr, due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, Croatia will likely have much fewer guests over the Easter period than we had hoped. ''It’s hard to say how much fewer people there will be than expected, but I'm hearing that these days, the cancellations of some larger groups who had Easter reservations are slowly trickling…
