A Croatian Neighbour with No Fence Guaranteed: Liberland Presents Its Government in Prague

By 22 December 2015

It may not be recognised yet, but the self-proclaimed state of Liberland is moving its plans forward.

Some eight months after proclamation of a new state in Europe, Liberland presented its new government ministers at a gala event in Prague, as reported by Czech television on December 20, 2015.

While for some the concept of a new micro-state between Croatia and Serbia is something of a joke, Liberland President is deadly serious with his intentions, and the project has fired the imagination of hundreds of thousands of people across the globe, who have applied for citizenship. You can read TCN's interview with President Vit Jedlicka here.

At the event, President Jedlicka introduced his ministers of foreign affairs, finance and the interior, as well as confirming that he had two vice-presidents - one in America, the other in Paris - as well as a minister of justice from the UK.

The event was attended by a limited international diplomatic presence, including two Czech MPs, the Honorary Consul of Belize and an attache from the Syrian Embassy.

Czech television carried two video reports, which you can see below with English subtitles, one on the announcements and one on the evening.

The Liberland government is opposed to EU entry and sees reaching agreement with Croatia as a key prime objective. Should Croatia and Liberland become recognised neighbours, one thing is for sure - with such Libertarian values, there is little chance of a wire fence being erected on that stretch of Croatian border.
