Croatian Members of European Parliament React to Terrorist Attacks

MEPs express their condolences and defiance.

Croatian Members of European Parliament who live and work in Brussels reacted on Twitter to the latest terrorist attacks, reports tportal.hr on March 22, 2016.

Davor Škrlec (ORaH) wrote that everybody was fine. “Thank you for your concern. I can confirm that my associates and I are well. I hope it is the same with other MEPs and their associates", said Škrlec.

Marijana Petir (HSS) wrote that the explosions in Brussels before Easter are an indication that for some people nothing is sacred. “They will not frighten us because our God conquered Death! Happy Easter”, announced Petir via Twitter.

Ivan Jakovčić (IDS) also said he was fine, but added that one of his assistants Leo Budicin was on the subway in Maalbeek and was helping the victims. “This is awful! We have to win!" wrote Jakovčić. In another post he added: "Great sadness in Brussels! I express my condolences to all those who have been hurt in any way during these terrible attacks! The right to freedom must not be taken away from us!”

Tonino Picula (SDP) wrote that his associates were safe, and that he was in a meeting. “We are voting. The tension is growing because of the uncertainty what can happen next... When and where?!” wrote Picula on Twitter.

Biljana Borzan (SDP) wrote that she and her associates were not hurt. “My assistant went today to work early and avoided the explosion in the subway by about 15 minutes. An intern also just got lucky”, wrote Borzan.

Ruža Tomašić (HKS) also send a message via Twitter. "I am being followed by states of emergency. Last week, I was in Turkey at the summit of the European Conservatives and Reformists. There is also chaos", Tomašić announced on Twitter.

Andrej Plenković (HDZ) said he strongly condemned the terrorist attacks and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
