Croatia Gains Access to FBI Terrorist Screening Database

By 1 September 2018

ZAGREB, September 1, 2018 - Minister of the Interior Davor Božinović and the director of the FBI's Terrorist Screening Centre Charles Kable on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding whereby Croatia will gain access to the US Terrorist Screening Database, which contains data on all persons who may be linked to terrorism.

The Ministry of the Interior said that the memorandum, signed in Dubrovnik, would step up cooperation between Croatian institutions and the US agency.

Kable said that, based on the document, Croatia's Ministry of the Interior and the Terrorist Screening Centre would share information with the aim of preventing terrorist attacks, including information on transnational organised crime and other serious types of crime.

The Croatian ministry recalled that the document signed today built on its strategic partnership and increasingly strong institutional cooperation with the USA, agreed during the minister's visit to the US early this year and confirmed by a return visit by US Attorney General Jeff Sessions in late May.

The cooperation is primarily aimed at preventing and fighting serious crimes, terrorism, people and drug smuggling and corruption and organised crime, the ministry said.
