The longer I live here, the more I realise that Dalamtia is just a small village.
No matter where I travel in the region, some familiar face always shows up, so I suppose it was not a surprise to see the smiling face of Zoran Pejovic of Paradox Hospitality at the Imota winery near Imotski yesterday, as 30 international wine journalists arrived to sample the wines of the Imotski Wine Association.
It is a sign of the respect that Zoran and Paradox have on the Croatian wine scene that the Imotski Wine Association invited him to present their wines to the expert international audience (I exclude myself from 'expert' status of course...).
And despite my lack of knowledge and beer-affected palate, I thoroughly enjoyed Zoran's expert guidance through 21 wines of the region, one whose wine scene I knew little about. It was a very successful event overall, and it was held in a remarkable room in the heart of what was once the second largest winery in former Yugoslavia. The three walls surrounding Zoran were decorated in a quite astonishing mosaic of some 450,000 pieces, from stones from all five continents. Read more about it here.
